Brazilian Butt Lift New York City

A person’s behind may change shape over time, sagging with age, after they have children, or after a significant amount of weight loss. They may be able to remedy the situation by spending hours at the gym performing bun-toning exercises. However, after all of this work, they might still be left with a less-than-ideal posterior. Alternatively, some people are not genetically gifted with the size, roundness and projection of the buttocks that they would like.

If you feel like your buttocks is too flat and needs more volume, a Brazilian butt lift procedure can be the perfect way to achieve the curvy, firm, and desirable rear that you desire.

What Is a Brazilian Butt Lift?

A Brazilian butt lift is a surgical procedure that utilizes your own fat to naturally add volume to your buttocks. The most important part of the procedure is a technique known as fat transfer or fat grafting. Dr. Cangello has shared a practice for the last two years with Dr. Sydney Coleman, who initially pioneered much of the science involved in fat grafting, ensuring survival of the fat after it has been grafted. Dr. Cangello is one of only two surgeons in the world who has worked closely with and been trained by Dr. Coleman in his technique. The technique used for this procedure is critical because patients want to know that after they have spent a lot of money on plastic surgery, that they have the best chance at survival of the grafted fat, so that their results last a long time. They also want to minimize complications such as “oil cysts” which can develop when large volumes of fat are grafted.

Using liposuction, Dr. Cangello will collect enough fat to add the desired amount of volume to your buttocks. The fat may be sourced from multiple regions of the body. Once the fat cells have been collected for transfer, they will be purified by removing unnecessary fluids and damaged or dead fat cells. This leaves only the healthiest cells for the transfer.

Using his excellent artistic vision, Dr. Cangello will then strategically inject the purified fat cells into the tissues of the patient’s buttocks, ensuring that the cells are distributed evenly to make the results look more natural and to maximize the survival of the cells.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Brazilian Butt Lift?

You are a good candidate for a Brazilian butt lift if you aren’t happy with the size and shape of your buttocks and you have a fair amount of excess fat in your abdomen, thighs, hips, waist, or lower back.

You must also be in good health, live in New York City (or be willing to travel), have realistic expectations about the surgery, and follow Dr. Cangello’s pre-operative and post-operative instructions. This means following any guidelines set to facilitate the healing process. You will need to be able to minimize pressure applied to the buttock area by not sitting directly on the buttocks and by not sleeping on your back for a few weeks.

If you want your buttocks to be plumper, firmer and rounder with greater projection, Dr. Cangello can help you decide if a Brazilian butt lift procedure is right for you.

The Consultation: Creating Your Brazilian Butt Lift Plan

Your Brazilian butt lift journey begins with a consultation with Dr. David Cangello in our New York City office. Dr. Cangello will discuss your medical history and the results you expect to see from the Brazilian butt lift. To ensure that your procedure will be a safe one, it is imperative that you are honest about your allergies, medications, personal habits, and procedures you’ve had in the past.

Significant changes to your body after your Brazilian butt lift can have negative effects on your results. If you’re planning to lose more than twenty pounds after surgery, you should inform Dr. Cangello, as this may cause the skin around your hips and buttocks to sag again. For this reason, you should be within ten to fifteen pounds of your ideal or desired weight.

Dr. Cangello will ask about your goals and how you would like your buttocks to appear. He is dedicated to giving you the most aesthetically desirable rear end possible. To achieve the best contours for you, the surgeon must be able to visualize the buttocks proportions relative to the rest of the body. This requires exemplary artistic vision and attention to detail, both of which are hallmarks of Dr. Cangello’s work.

Dr. Cangello will conduct a physical examination to look at your body as a whole. He will analyze your body first to get an idea of the amount of fat that will need to be harvested for grafting. He will assess the current size and shape of your buttocks and based upon the amount of augmentation you wish to achieve and his artistic vision he will determine an approximate amount of fat that needs to be harvested. Once that is determined, he will then examine the areas of the abdomen, flanks, lower back and thighs to assess their suitability as donor sites. Dr. Cangello will then discuss with you which sites will be liposuctioned for harvesting, approximately how much fat will be taken from each site, and how it will affect the body’s contour in that area.

Dr. Cangello customizes each Brazilian butt lift procedure to fit the unique needs of each individual patient. His recommendations ultimately will be based on your height, weight, build, anatomy, and goals.

Preparing for Your Brazilian Butt Lift

Dr. Cangello is dedicated to achieving the best results possible. During your initial Brazilian butt lift consultation, he will develop a pre-operative plan for you to follow. This plan is designed to address your unique needs and to make sure that you have the best outcome possible. Your pre-op plan may include changes in diet and any other habits that impact your health. You will be advised to avoid ANY nicotine-containing products for at least two to four weeks before and after surgery.

Dr. Cangello will give you instructions to follow for the days leading up to your surgery. These instructions may include stopping certain medications and supplements. You will also be advised to avoid eating anything starting at midnight on the day of your surgery.

Expectations: The amount of fat inserted into your buttocks depends on your needs and preferences. We will consult with you to determine the best approach. The intended result is for your buttocks to look rounder and firmer but also proportionate to the rest of your body. Dr. Cangello is truly a master at achieving the most natural looking results.

We will create a post-op plan that will help minimize pain and discomfort during your healing process. We want your recovery to be as quick and comfortable as possible.

Where Will the Surgery Be Performed?

Your Brazilian butt lift will be performed at Dr. Cangello’s New York City office. He has a fully accredited (AAASF) state-of-the-art operating room on-site. You are encouraged to ask for a tour of the operating facility when you come in for your consultation.

The Recovery Process

After the procedure, it’s important that you follow Dr. Cangello’s recovery plan. Once the procedure is completed, you will need to treat the buttocks gently as the area heals. Bruising and swelling are a natural part of the healing process and can be addressed with ice packs. You will be asked to minimize any pressure to the buttocks for the first two weeks after your surgery. This will aid in maximizing survival of the grafted fat. You will not be able to sleep on your back and you should not sit directly on the buttocks during this time period. You will wear a compression dressing over the areas that were liposuctioned in order to prevent seroma formation (fluid accumulation under the skin). This can be removed in three to four weeks depending on how much fat is harvested and from what areas.
Patients may be sore in the areas that were operated on for a few days after surgery. Pain medication will be prescribed to make you comfortable. You will be permitted to shower in one to two days after surgery. However, showers should only be taken with warm (not hot water) and they should be short and quick, not prolonged, just enough to get clean.

You should plan to take time off work for one to two weeks in order to help your body heal properly. For four to six weeks, you’ll need to avoid strenuous physical activity of any kind. The compression garment you will wear will also help the tissues conform to their new shape and to keep the swelling down.

The better you treat the buttocks during recovery, the greater the chance that a higher percentage of fat cells will survive. The sutures Dr. Cangello uses are dissolvable and will not need to be removed. You will also be provided with waterproof dressings so you will not necessarily have to change them yourself. More specific instructions about dressing care will be provided by Dr. Cangello’s office in your post-operative instructions. After two to three months, the final results of your Brazilian butt lift will be evident.
